We built yokal to bring local commerce back home
yokal was founded by three brothers Aiden, Justin, and Dylan Wright, lifelong residents of Montclair, New Jersey, who grew up surrounded by small businesses, neighborhood stores, and a strong sense of community.
We believe technology should strengthen those connections, not replace them.
The Locals
Why We Created yokal
Behind every local business is someone who chose their community over a corporate path. But too much of what neighbors spend online flows through platforms that were never built with small towns in mind, extracting value instead of keeping it local.
yokal was built to change that. A platform where communities come first, and the businesses that give a place its character finally have a home that works for them.
Built for Communities
yokal isn't a tool dropped into a town, it's a platform designed with local governments and the businesses they support in mind.
Municipalities Lead
We partner with local governments directly, so the platform serves public interest, not shareholder returns.
Independent Businesses First
Every feature we build is designed to help local shops, restaurants, and services compete and thrive online.
Our Mission
To put growth and commerce back into the hands of the communities that generate it.
